Greetings from Janaki Natarajan Vision Research and Visual Rehabilitation Charities and M.N. Eye Hospital.

India has 12 million underprivileged people living in darkness due to preventable and needless blindness due to Cataract, Glaucoma, Diabetic retinopathy and Corneal opacities.

We have been conducting free Cataract – IOL eye camps in Chennai,Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram Districts for the past 25 years. A camp site is identified and a date is fixed for the camp. Camp pamphlets are distributed with the help of our camp managers for two to three days before the camp date in the area around the camp site. A team consisting of an Ophthalmologist ,Optometrist and counselors conduct the eye camp. Patients needing glasses are given appropriate glasses at low cost. Patients needing cataract surgeries are counseled and brought to our Base Hospital. After total eye and general evaluation the patient is taken up for cataract surgery in our High Tech operation theatre.

Patients are provided free food and medicines during their one day stay at the hospital. The next day they are given a protective dark glasses and taken back to their home in our camp vehicle.

In a week we do an average of 4 to 5 camps at various sites, with an average surgical patients of 10 to 15 per camp. The average expanse to conduct a MEGA EYE CAMP comes to Rs. 25,000 (Twenty Five Thousand ) only..We need your support and financial help to carry on this service that we are providing to the community.

We request you to sponsor one such Cataract – IOL free eye camp . You can sponsor any number of camps in a year. Such camps can be done around specific dates of your choice in remembrance of your dear and near departed ones.

Happy occasions like Wedding and Birth Days can also be celebrated with a thanksgiving free eye camp.

You can sponsor various items we use on a regular basis for conducting FREE EYE CAMPS

– Can sponsor IOLs purchases — IOLs cost us 100 Rs. We do 300 IOL monthly—Please buy/sponsor any number of IOLs on a monthly basis

– Medicines used for surgery costs Rs 1000 for one patient. You can donate medicines (samples are also welcome) We can provide you a small list (value of your choice ) on a regular basis you specify

– Can sponsor for food — Rice bags .Dhall bags, oil cans, milk packets, sugar, coffee, Vegetables can be sponsored on a monthly basis.We will send our representative and collect the food items from your houses.

– Patient transport Diesel – we spend Rs 75000 per month. Help us by filling up our vehicle of a specific volume of diesel on a monthly basis

Instrument Sponsorship One set of cataract surgery instruments costs Rs 10000- We need them on a regular basis . 10 sets in a year.
